It is with great sadness that we announce Mary Ellen Johnston Crow passed away peacefully on her birthday December 10, 2022 in Leesburg, Virginia. Mary Ellen was born to Herman and Ellen Pfundstein on December 10, 1940 in Washington, DC and was the youngest of three sisters.

The loving mother of three sons, Ellen was preceded in death by her oldest son Stephen as well as her sister Joan Risen and Brother-in-law Paul. She is survived by her sons Craig Johnston (Sonja) and Keith Johnston (Jennifer), granddaughters Taylor Johnston, Lindsey Thomas, Erin Holton, and Anjoli Johnston, grandson Peyton Johnston, sister Ann Caligiuri (Lou), nieces Debbie Whalen, Diane Wacha, Jackie Connaway, nephew Tony Caligiuri.

Mary Ellen was a member of Leesburg Community Church. A true extrovert and never missing an opportunity to talk, she loved spending time after the services socializing in the church kitchen. As with anyone who enjoyed a long life she had many interests and hobbies through the years, but one that lasted throughout her life was her love of gardening.

All who came to know Ellen knows that she was a special person and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be provided by Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg on Monday, December 19 at 11:00 am.  She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA following the service.
