Mary Wynkoop Larrick passed away unexpectedly at home in Stephens City on March 15, 2016. She was born on April 1, 1926 in Leesburg, VA, the third child of James Millard and Belle Thompson Wynkoop. Charles Pershing Larrick and Mary Catherine Wynkoop were married in Leesburg on March 18, 1948.
Mary is survived by her daughter Gail and husband Don Crigler of Stephens City and her son Charles Larrick. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles 'Mutt' Larrick, sister Helen Frye and
brother Harry Wynkoop. Because of her son's care and devotion, Mary was able to live happily in the homes she shared with him in Alexandria and Stephens City after Mutt's death.
Mary would have turned 90 on April 1st and still kept her weekly routine of church, hair appointment with her wonderful friend Howard Luttrell, bingo, and Friday night supper with her son, daughter and son-in-law. The first part of her afternoons were reserved for her favorite soap operas on TV and she didn't mind using a crossword dictionary for the puzzles she worked regularly. Her beloved Washington Nationals have Opening Day on her birthday but we know she'll still be rooting for them from a different vantage point this year.
Mary will always be remembered for her love and caring devotion to family and friends. We'll miss her greatly but know that she's happy to be reunited with Dad. For us, her memory is locked in our hearts and she's never more than a thought away.
Family and friends are invited to visit and share the memories on Monday, March 21, 2016 between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176 where a service will immediately follow starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia.
