Mary E. Lickey, 83, of Ashburn, VA went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at her residence in Ashburn.
Born on November 30, 1941 in Leesburg, VA, she was the daughter of Lester and Ollie Kinser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Lee Lickey, Sr.; son, Robert L. Lickey, Jr.; granddaughter, Natasha N. Jackson; and sisters, Nora E. Hough and Willie M. Carter.
She is survived by her sister, Betty J. Lettire (John) of Frederick, MD; sons, William N. Lickey of Kentucky and Jeffrey C. Lickey (Kim) of Maryland; daughters, Katherine Y. Hughes (Raymond) of Leesburg, VA and Roberta J. Oliver (Franklin) of West Virginia; grandchildren, Robert L. Lickey III, Ashley Y. Lickey, Macayla Lickey, Olivia Oliver, Miranda Oliver, Rynette Jackson, and Aaron Jackson; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a homemaker and took great pride in being the best mother to her children. She raised us all with stern religious beliefs and was always willing to talk with anyone about the Lord. She was a member of the Potomac Baptist Church in Sterling, VA, then became a member of the Leesburg Church of God in Leesburg, VA.
She also had the love for crocheting Afghans and enjoyed giving them out to her family and friends. Mary also liked history and often talked of her growing up years in Waterford, VA and all the history it held.
A graveside service will be conducted at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside from 11:30 AM -12:30 PM at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg.
