Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Bradfield O'Neill, age 90, of Ashburn, VA died at home on Friday, August 5th, 2011.
Born July 5, 1921 in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Sarah Hartzell Bradfield and Robert Bradfield, she attended Germantown High School. She had two younger brothers, Robert O Bradfield of Upper Darby PA who died in 1971 and James A Bradfield of Rockville Maryland who died in 1996. On September 18, 1943, she married John J. O'Neill of Philadelphia. He died in 1985.
She lived in Philadelphia, Camp Hill, and Bensalem Pennsylvania until 2004 when she moved to Ashburn, Virginia to live with her daughter Karen. She worked at the Signal Corp in Philadelphia during World War II and later for the Internal Revenue Service for almost 30 years. She retired in 1989.
Mary was a member of St Theresa Catholic Church since 1994 and before that St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Bensalem since 1963.
Mary will be especially remembered for starting college at the age of 64, graduating from Bucks County Community College with degrees in Liberal Studies and Fine Arts in 1993, volunteering as a docent at the James A Michener Museum in Doylestown, PA, her many years participating in Elderhostel programs, her love or art, crafts, jewelry crafting and music, and her participation in the ceramics program at the Senior Center in Cascades.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Diane Kinch of California, Dr. Elizabeth Rice of Pennsylvania, Karen O'Neill Strong of Virginia, and Carolyn Egrie of Maryland, 10 Grandchildren, John Kinch, college student, Tom Kinch, stock broker, Andrew Rice, radio producer, Christopher Rice, graduate student, Melanie Strong, marketer at Nike, Marilyn Strong, of Lynchburg, Va, Jeffrey Strong, graduate student, Michelle Reyman, architect, Steve Egrie, computer animator, and Michael Egrie, high school student, and 2 great-grandchild, Joseph and Charlotte Reyman.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday August 10, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA and burial will be at 3:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA. Memorial contributions can be sent to the James A Michener Museum 138 South Pine Street Doylestown, PA 18901 in memory of Mary O'Neill who enjoyed her years as a docent for the museum.
