Mary C. Reno, 83, of South Riding, Va., formerly of Glenshaw, Pa., passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 14, 2016. She valiantly battled cancer for many months. Mary was born January 18, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of Charles and Mary (Mae) Tea. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Reno. Mary is survived by her loving son, Douglas Reno, of Haltom City, Texas, and daughter Caroline R. Wilder, son-in-law Robert Wilder, and grandchildren, Grant and Kiersten Wilder, of Ashburn, Va. She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Glannon of Forest, Va., and Charlotte Hersch of Greenville, N.C., and her brother Charles Tea of Gibsonia, Pa.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Hampton High School in Allison Park, Pa., and a 1953 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. After a short time working in a dental office in Pittsburgh, Mary embarked on a career in geriatric nursing. She worked at Regency Hall Nursing Home in Allison Park for more than two decades. Mary demonstrated kindness, compassion and patience to all those in her care.
Musically gifted, Mary could play multiple instruments by ear, but particularly enjoyed playing the piano. She was an excellent cook and political aficionado who also enjoyed reading the daily newspaper and doing crossword puzzles. Mary and her beloved husband, Don, enjoyed 57 glorious years of marriage. She and Don attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Chantilly, Va., for more than a decade and made many wonderful friends there.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Mary's life at 11 a.m., Monday, August 22, at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Chantilly, Va.
