Mary Sixma, age 76, was born Mary Rebecca Wolverton. She passed away from cervical cancer on July 9, 2011 at her residence in Hamilton, Virginia. The daughter of Perry Milton and Mary Ellen (Dutter) Wolverton, Mrs. Sixma was born on December 18, 1934 in Berryville, Virginia. She married Clair E. Sixma on July 17, 1954 at Leesburg Presbyterian Church. She was a stay at home mom and babysat throughout her entire life time; always looking out for the needs of children. Mrs. Sixma was a charter member of the Loudoun Baptist Temple. Her family remembers her as a lady who wore many hats performing many duties throughout her life. She is survived by her husband, Clair E. Sixma of Hamilton, VA; her children Perry W. Sixma and wife Shannon of Pensacola Florida; Chester B. Sixma of Martinsburg, WV; Alta Anderson and husband Peri Sufitchi of Manassas, VA; Donna L. Shipman and husband Tim of Boyce, VA; Matthew P. Sixma of Hamilton; a foster son Frederick L. "Fred" Sixma of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; her sister Gladys Haney and brother David Wolverton of Destin, FL. She was loved and will be missed by many friends and family. A visitation for family and friends has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. with service starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. Burial will follow at the Ketoctin Cemetery in Round Hill, VA.
