Maurice Edward Welty, 90, passed away July 29th, 2016, at Loudoun INOVA Hospital, Leesburg, Virginia. He and his wife resided at Morningside House, Leesburg and Lovettsville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a long time resident of Garfield Heights, Ohio. He was the son of the late Charles "Bill" Welty and Hazel Rumbaugh Welty of Weltytown, Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, PA. His younger brother Duane Rumbaugh Welty pre-deceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife the former Ruth Weaver; two daughters, Diana Zapf of Lovettsville and Heather Welty of New York City; two grandsons, Michael Christian Zapf of Royal Oak, Michigan, and Andrew Paul Zapf of West Point, New York; and one great-grandson, Leopold Zapf. There will be no visitation. A graveside service at Union Cemetery, Lutheran Church Road, Lovettsville, Virginia, will be held at 11 am, Thursday, August 4th, 2016, followed by a luncheon at neighboring New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being made with Colonial Funeral Home, Leesburg.
