Melvin Craig McGowan passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Melvin was 57 years old. A life long resident of Leesburg, Virginia, he was the proud son of Melvin and Shirley (Hamilton) McGowan and a graduate of Loudoun County High School. A jack of all trades, he made his living in the plumbing field while working for Peed Plumbing Company.

A happy, jovial guy, Melvin always had a smiling face and a warm welcome for everyone he met. He loved spending his free time hunting or fishing. J.R., his loyal companion, (a jack russell terrier) always brought him much joy. A talented gardener, he grew beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables with ease. And he did not stop with just his own yard; but continued on through his neighbors' yards. He cared enough to want their yards to flourish as well. His family and friends enjoyed the delicious foods he cooked; especially his barbecue and the foods prepared on the grill.

Melvin Craig McGowan is described as a great son, good brother, a loving cousin and wonderful friend. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

A gathering of family and friends is planned for Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, NE Leesburg, VA 20176 where a memorial service will immediately follow.
