Michael S. Robinson passed away, closing the final chapter of his story on November 17th in Fauquier County, Virginia.
Michael was born on Elgin Air Force Base in Florida to Susan Katarkus Robinson Shilling and Michael Albert Robinson.
Growing up, Michael's family lived in numerous places including Florida, Ohio, Taiwan, Alabama, and Virginia. During his teenage years, Michael formed his first band, Middle Earth, with his high school friends Todd, Joe, and Larry. Along with his love of music, he prized his 1985 and 1987 Ford Mustangs and his high school sweetheart Wendy.
Michael and Wendy married at 20 in 1987 and raised two children, Brooke and Brandon Robinson, over their 27 years together in Virginia. Michael frequently took his family on vacations whenever he could. Together, they traveled to many beaches and took cruises. By far, his favorite place on Earth was Disney World in Florida. He dreamed of one day retiring as a greeter on Main St USA at The Magic Kingdom. He always said he would be honored to be included among The Haunted Mansion's 999 happy haunts.
A very charismatic man who could hold a conversation with just about anyone, he often found ways to make strangers laugh throughout his daily travels. Over his 26 years of professional experience working various roles at Comcast, he made many friends out of his coworkers and customers alike.
Michael married his second wife, Sam, in 2015. Together they went on countless adventures, saw all of their favorite bands in concert, shook the hands of famous artists, tailgated many NASCAR races, and lived what Michael would call a "rockstar lifestyle."
Above all else, Michael was a lifelong musician and poet. A true artist spirit, he leaned into both the darkness and light of this world. Michael's strong will lead him to follow his bliss and desires to the edges of the map.
In his final years, Michael grew to love hiking in the Shenandoah Mountains. His wife, Sam showed him the beauties to be found in nature. He expressed deep gratitude for the stillness. On those trails he found peace, humbled by his place in the universe.
A deeply nuanced man, he was and is very loved. We will all miss him and hope his spirit continues to visit us in meaningful ways.
A celebration of life party was held at Crystal City Sports Pub on Monday, November 28, in Crystal City, Virginia. Many of those closest to him came to share stories, appreciate his best attributes, and to have a drink in his name.
Please consider donating to Sam, Brooke, and Brandon to fulfill his final resting place wishes. https://gofund.me/4f106565
