Mildred Luceil Philips Stitely was born August 2, 1915 in James, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Margaret (Costello) and Boyer Philips. Luceil was married in November 1946 to the late Charles W. Stitely. They were married for 34 years. Luceil attended schools in Ashburn and Leesburg, and was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church.
In 1942, she found employment at Thompson's Dairy in Washington, DC where she worked for ten years. Over her life time, she had residences in Falls Church, VA; Sterling, VA; and Palmetto, FL before returning to VA in 2000.
She enjoyed traveling, visiting many states in the USA and foreign locales.
Luceil was predeceased by two sisters, Eugenia Wortman and Dorothy Lee Green. She is survived by two sisters, Claudia Fouche of Winchester, VA and Jessie Settle of Frederick, MD in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA on Tuesday, August 26 at 10:00 am with viewing on Monday, August 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
