Obituary

Mildred J. Watts died Friday, October 2, 2009 at the age of 87. She was born September, 24, 1922 in Washington, DC and spent the majority of her life living in the northern Virginia area. She is pre-deceased by her husband after 51 years of marriage, Richard E. Watts, Sr. and her son Kenneth L. Watts. She is survived by 2 of her children and their spouses, a son, Richard E. Watts, Jr. and her daughter, Patricia J. McClung. She has three grandchildren, Talbot Watts, Wendy Bledsoe, and Chelsea McClung and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Hon. Harry L. Carrico, and her sister, Virginia Booker. Milly was known as a vibrant, contemporary woman, who enjoyed a close romantic marriage to her husband, and was a wonderful, giving, mother, sister and grandmother. She had a successful career, late in life, after staying home to raise her children. For many of her years in retirement she could be found at the barn, staying with her granddaughter Chelsea after school and sharing their love of horses. She loved her family and friends and cared deeply for others. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 8th at 10:00am at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg. A reception will follow at the home of Tricia McClung, followed by gravesite services at Warrenton Cemetery.
