Obituary

Monica Ann Conrad was born on May 24th, 1955 in Queens, New York, daughter of LtCol Philip and Julie McArdle. She was raised as a "military brat," the youngest of five girls, and lived in many of the 50 states, including Hawaii, and also in South Korea. She most loved her 10 years in Charleston, South Carolina where 2 of her 3 children were born and her time in Virginia where she has lived for the last 25 years.

She was proud to be a Navy wife, mother, Ombudsman, Family Services and County social worker. She devoted her life to raising her children and helping others. She was the soul mate of her husband, charming hostess for those that passed through her home and life, and ultimate confidante for the many friends she held so close.

Monica is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Robert Conrad, daughters Stacie Johnson (husband Matt), Kelly Conrad, and son Robert Conrad Jr. She also adored her two grandsons, Caleb and Keenan. She is survived by two sisters, Julie McArdle and Cecile Shaevitz.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 13 from 1-3 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.

There will be funeral services at 3 PM followed by a reception at the home of her daughter in Lansdowne. The burial service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
