Nancy Ruth Thomas was born April 29, 1930 to parents John Sherman and Leila Mae Hutchison. She left us for her heavenly home on September 24, 2023.   In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Thomas, whom she married on September 6, 1958.  She was also predeceased by siblings Edith Merchant, Virginia Hall, Leon Palmer, Loyd Hutchison, William Hutchison, John Hutchison, and Samuel Hutchison.  She is survived by brothers Jack (Sandra) Hutchison and Allen (Pat) Hutchison, sisters-in-law Betty Hutchison and Phyllis Hutchison, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by many close friends and fellow members of the Leesburg Community Church (formerly Leesburg Baptist Church).

She was an active member of the Leesburg Community Church in Leesburg where she served in several capacities over the years, most recently as treasurer of her Sunday School Class.

She worked for many years at the Peoples National Bank (now First American Bank) in Leesburg, Va.  She traveled internationally with her husband who worked for the State Department and had postings to Greece and Okinawa and visited the Holy Land.

Nancy lived out her faith in Jesus Christ by beginning her days with devotions and by serving others through volunteer work at Heritage Hall and the Senior Center in Leesburg, providing meals for fire/rescue personnel, and visits to home-bound individuals.  She will be missed by so many who were the recipients of her cards, phone calls, and visits.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE., Leesburg, VA  20176 where a service will begin at 11:00 am.  Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, King Street, Leesburg, VA.
