IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nona
Hayward
December 10, 1945 – February 9, 2019
Nona Irene (Langford) Hayward was born on December 10, 1945, the second child of Virgil and Vera Langford of Corydon, Iowa. She departed this life to be with the Lord on February 9, 2019 at the Virginia Hospital Center.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob), eldest son Robert (Rob), twins Todd and his wife Priscilla, Jill and her husband Josh Arnestad, and her six grandchildren: Chase, Cooper, Flynn, and Anna Arnestad, Avery and Audrey Hayward. She is also survived by her brother Loren and his wife Evelyn Langford, their children Marilyn and her husband Ron Snyder, and Mark and his wife Jody.
Nona graduated from Corydon High School and then from Northwest Missouri State University in 1968 with a degree in Math Education. She enjoyed teaching math to high school kids. When her health kept her out of the classroom, she tutored for twenty-five years in her home. She not only helped her students with math, she also served as a mother figure and mentor to many of them.
Nona enjoyed raising her children, teaching right from wrong. She also enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, travel, genealogy, and of course, her grandchildren.
Nona loved the Lord and was a member of Loudoun Baptist Temple. She taught Sunday School for more than a decade. More recently, she would arrive at church a little early to greet each member and visitor with a handshake and a few kind words of encouragement.
In lieu of sending flowers, Loudoun Baptist Temple in Leesburg, Virginia, is accepting donations for new song books in her memory.
