"Bart" Bartlett, Jr.

Oliver James "Bart" Bartlett Jr. died on August 31, 2017. He was born March 18, 1930 in Orange, New Jersey, the beloved son of Oliver James Bartlett Sr. and Mary Brown. He grew up in Chester, NJ, where he played football for the All-state team from Roxbury High School. He attended Hampton College, VA, on a football scholarship. He was a US Army veteran, and he spent the early parts of his life giving back to those in need, working with the James Weldon Johnson Community Center in New York City. He was a long time supporter of disadvantaged youths and health care in Plainfield, NJ, and he had a long and successful career in politics as a lobbyist in NJ working on issues related to health care. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Miller Bartlett; his brother, Arthur Bartlett; stepchildren Bryan and Bernadette Miller, Alisa and Joseph DeStefano, and Amanda Miller; his grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Scott and Sarah Miller, Isabella DeStefano, Mia DeStefano, and Shalene Ockhuizen; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as KT Glover and Charles Carter, who are like family to Bart and those close to him. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017. A gathering will begin at 1:00 pm with a service starting at 2:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd, NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.
