Patricia Frances (Langa) Charles, AKA Patsy, was born in Sewickley, PA, on May 29, 1939, and spent the next 20 years of her life in Ambridge, PA, a small industrial town 20 miles north of Pittsburgh PA. Pat lived with her parents, two brothers and paternal grandparents. Both grandparents were born in Poland and immigrated to the US through Ellis Island, NY, and settled in PA. Pat's two brothers Alex (3 years older) and Ron (3 years younger) enjoyed a close relationship during their formative years and being the middle child and only daughter, Pat enjoyed a favored status within the family dynamics. Pat's childhood was steeped in Polish culture and ethnic foods since Polish was spoken at home to accommodate her grandparents.
Pat attended the local Ambridge public schools and graduated in 1957, when she started a career in banking and quickly graduated into management. After several years she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where her family invested in a local bar and grill. Although she continued her career in banking and became a part-time model in a Florida department store, Pat developed a lifelong admiration for fashion which caused her to always appear perfectly stylish.
After several years in Florida, Pat decided to seek "fame and fortune" by moving to the Washington, DC area. Pat was able to apply her skill-set working with a major defense contractor in contracts and proposal writing and at the same time complete a Bachelor of Arts degree which was a life-long dream. During this time Gene Charles, a real estate manager and investor met Pat while she was managing property for her condominium. After a brief courtship, Pat and Gene were married on Valentine's Day in 1979, in a snowstorm. Due to Gene's established real estate business, Pat became a successful real estate broker serving with Gene for several decades. It was during this time, they decided to move to Leesburg, VA, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Gene changed occupations and became very interested in all facets of healthcare and received his PhD, after which he started five new businesses spanning several decades. Pat joined Gene and they became a business team in healthcare with numerous products such as Kangen water systems, and patient counseling and lectures, which she continued after Gene's passing in 2014 until her passing in January 2022.
Pat and Gene had been faithful members of Capital Church in Vienna, Virginia, for many years. In more recent years, Pat joined the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, six miles south of Leesburg, and was a faithful participant in the life of the church and was very compassionate in praying for and carrying the joys and burdens of the members. Pat also had great wisdom and knowledge in business and finance, and at the same time, she was a beautiful dignified woman who always carried herself in a stately manner with apparel to match. She has been deeply missed by the Chapel since she passed away on January 5, 2022.
