Patricia Marie "Patty" Laverriere (Aiosa) died after a brief illness on June 15, 2023 in Leesburg, VA at the age of 67, surrounded by her family. Patty was born in Huntington, NY on July 2, 1955 to Harry and Margaret Aiosa. She attended Holy Family High School on Long Island and graduated from Merrimack College. She obtained a Masters Degree in Theology from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, a Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University, and a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Long Island University.
Patty is survived by her husband Ken Laverriere of Paeonian Springs, VA and four children: Elizabeth McGovern and her husband Brian and their two children Jack and Charlie of Philadelphia, PA; Kate Laverriere and her wife Paige Richardson and their two children Henry and Samuel of Leesburg, VA; Caroline Leonard and her husband Dan and their two children James and Natalie of Ashburn, VA; and Greg Laverriere of New York, NY. She is also survived by two sisters: Theresa Aiosa of Cambridge, VT, and Mary Burke of Oyster Bay, NY. She was predeceased by her parents and by her younger brother Gregory Aiosa of Huntington, NY.
Patty loved her family and friends with an unmatched intensity, and her gift of love to others was predominant in everything she did. In recent years, she was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren. She was an avid reader, a gifted quilter, and loved the relaxation of completing the daily crossword puzzle. She was warm, kind and non-judgmental, and all who knew her admired her precision and attention to detail in tasks both large and small.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA, with a burial to follow at the St. John the Apostle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg, VA 20176.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her name to the Georgetown University Scholarship Fund.
