Patricia Ann Marrone (née Carroll)
Of Leesburg, VA, passed away on February 8, 2022 at the age of 83. Pat is survived by her children Terri (Mike) Thomas of Leesburg, VA, Michael (Jessica) Marrone of Oakton, VA, Julie (Tom) Wilson of Leesburg, VA and Tina (Glenn) Marchione of Amissville, VA; sisters Fran (John) Amer and MaryLou (Jack) Miller; and grandchildren Joseph and Thomas Marrone, Ryan and Erica Wilson, and Amanda and Brianne Marchione. She is preceded very recently in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe Marrone; as well as her parents, Martin and Mary Carroll, and siblings Kathleen Kiefer and Martin Carroll Jr.

After her childhood in Pittsburgh, PA, Pat earned a nursing degree from St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN. While in college she met Joe on a blind date. They began their married life in Pittsburgh before moving to Oxon Hill, MD and then Severna Park, MD, raising their family and forming lifelong friendships. They eventually retired to Leesburg, VA to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Once the youngest of her four children started school, Pat was able to resume her nursing career with the neonatal unit at Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington D.C., where she worked for 30 years before retiring. She loved working with babies and helping new mothers.

Pat was a very active volunteer in her community and with St. Columba Catholic Church, singing in the choir and teaching religious education. She was a popular Girl Scout troop leader and especially enjoyed the camping trips. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels, often delivering meals with one or two of her children in tow.

Her many hobbies and interests included bird watching, playing bridge, bargain hunting and cooking. She joined a neighborhood Luncheon Gourmet group which was the source of many great meals and even better friendships.

Pat was a special person who found much joy in life's little miracles -- spotting a pileated woodpecker, redeeming coupons for double value, drinking a hot cup of coffee while chatting on the phone with one of her sisters – and she did her best to spread that joy to others. She will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass for immediate family will be held February 16, 12pm at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg. The service will be streamed for other family and friends via Facebook Live , also at noon on February 16. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at a future date.
