Paul Lester, 92, Of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on November 15, 2017, surrounded by family.
Paul was born in Rochester, New York on October 21, 1925. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. After the war, Paul returned home to Wellsville, New York, where his father had purchased a Chevrolet dealership, Lester Chevrolet. Once home, Paul resumed his education and graduated from Alfred University in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in English. He continued to work in the family automobile business becoming President of Lester Chevrolet in the 50's.
In 1971 he purchased a Chevrolet dealership in Lebanon, New Hampshire, also Lester Chevrolet, and he moved to New England. When he retired in 1988, Paul moved to Virginia and lived with his daughter, Shelley, to be nearer his first grandchildren. He subsequently pursued a second career in the entertainment industry as a public speaker, voice talent in radio and television and acting.
Paul was an avid golfer and skier throughout his life, and he enjoyed writing, drawing, painting and woodworking. He was blessed with a wonderful community of friends in Leesburg, Virginia, where his zest for life inspired and entertained many young people.
Paul is perhaps best known for his warmth and generosity of spirit, unconditional love, and his steadfast loyalty to family and friends.
Paul was predeceased by his father and mother, Pat and Helen (Dean) Lester. He was also predeceased by his brother Don Lester and his grandson son Carter Delaney.
He is survived by his children Shelley Lester Delaney of Leesburg, Virginia, Paul Lester of Asheville, North Carolina, and Shelley and Paul's sibling Leslie (Louis) Wortman of Leesburg, Virginia; Stepchildren Donna (Saul) Castro of Canyon Lake, Texas; Johanna Cicotte of Lebanon, New Hampshire; and David Cicotte of Quechee, Vermont.
Paul was a true father to his stepchildren and remained close to them throughout life. He is survived by ten grandchildren: Thomas (Kathryn) Delaney, Louis Wortman, Andrew Wortman, Micaela Wortman, Caitlin Zych, Arames Castro, Adrian Castro, Mercedes Castro, David Cicotte, Jr., Nicholas Cicotte, Petra Cicotte, Phimeas Cicotte and Sapphira Cicotte.
He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Camden Delaney, Teagan Delaney, Maverick Delaney, McKinleigh Delaney, Paul Jaikissoon and Harper Jaikissoon.
And he is survived by four nieces and nephews Chris (Richard Brockway) O'Brien, Sue Anne (Robert) Fahy, Patrick Lester and Michael (Ann Marie) Lester
Funeral services will be held at a later time, with a date and time to be announced.
