Paul left us suddenly on February 6 at his home in Lovettsville VA shortly after his 43rd birthday, and after enduring a difficult heart surgery. He was husband to Philipa and proud father of Portia and Jake.
Paul was predeceased by his mother Judy Taylor, her husband Robert Taylor, and grandfather Arthur Kreiger and grandparents John and Pearl Wilson.
Paul was born in Leesburg, Virginia and never strayed far. He graduated from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, MD. in 1986. He was surrounded by a large loving family including his father, Paul Sr. and wife Zoellen Wilson, Kearneysville, WV, brother R. Dean Wilson, Harpers Ferry WV, sister, Kara (Allen) Self, Augusta, WV, (Zoey, Kaleb), grandmother, Kay Kreiger, Cumberland MD, step siblings Shannon Viverette, Frederick MD, Richard Smith, Boonsboro, MD and Kelly (George) Wood, Knoxville, MD (Amanda), aunts and uncles: Gayla Grove, Harpers Ferry, WV, Carrie (Byron) Christian, Jacksonville, NC, James (Inez) Wilson, Coalgood, KY, Frank Wilson, Falling Waters, WV, Margaret Wilson, Harpers Ferry, WV, Peggy Wilson, Harpers Ferry, WV, Jerri Freeland, Wiley Ford, WV, and Arthur Kreiger, VA. He grew up with many cousins: Sherry Grove, Gary Grove, Marshall Grove, Machelle Grove-Wolf, Becky Freeland and Sharon Nick in particular.
Paul graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in 1990 and went on to pursue a career in software engineering.
Paul opened his heart and home to his wife's family with his gracious and fun-loving spirit. He will always be remembered as a wonderful brother, son, and nephew by sister-in law Kate (Jeff) Coberly, Harpers Ferry WV, sister-in-law, Vicky Brunt, Arlington VA father-in-law Peter (Carolyn) Brunt Jacksonville FL, mother-in-law Helen Brunt, Laleham, England and Aunty Bean and Uncle Gary Smith, King Ferry NY.
Paul admired the world's natural beauty and all living creatures. He was a passionate outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Paul had considerable skills in renovation and remodeling and had made gorgeous improvements to their home. He also had a fascination with automobiles which he collected, eager with the desire to restore them. Paul and Philipa operated their farm, home, and life with a close regard for the environment. Paul provided his family with organic and locally produced food and ran his car on self-manufactured biodiesel.
Over the years Paul fought challenging health battles and beat them with his family's support, the extraordinary support and care of his employer, Northrop Grumman, who ensured Paul received the best possible care, and, of course, his positive attitude and incredible perseverance. He will be remembered by many for his wide smile, and laid back attitude. Paul's early departure from the land he so loved will be mourned by all those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Lovettsville Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA.
