Obituary

Perry Shasteen died peacefully in Stafford Hospital on September 19, 2015 in Stafford, Virginia at the age of 52.

Perry Shasteen was born on April 18, 1963 in Mattoon, Illinois. He graduated from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois in 1981. Then he went on to attend Southern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology. In his free time, he minored in German and dreamed of traveling in Europe. Perry's life revolved around his 3 children whom he loved with all of his heart-Jessica, Jennifer, and Jason Shasteen. His children remember him as not only a wonderful father, but also an amazing person to everyone who passed through his life. He always supported them and pushed them to achieve their dreams no matter the circumstances.

Perry was an accomplished Certified Arborist who was blessed to work in an industry he loved for over 30 years. All of those he worked with fed off of his positivity, dedication, and passion for his work. They truly feel he was an inspiration to them all and he will be sincerely missed. Perry always knew how to liven up the mood with his adventurous side. He was an avid collector of comic books, music, and movies of all varieties. He possesses a DVD collection that stood taller than him and enough comic books to open his own store. He truly believed in living the story of the superhero in everyday life, always reminding others that anything is possible and that struggles of life can always be overcome with positivity.

Perry is survived by his parents, Robert and Gloria Shasteen of Sullivan, Illinois; his sister, Linda Sevilla of Champaign, Illinois; his foster-brother Daniel Booker of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and his children, Jessica Shasteen of Fairfax, Virginia, Jennifer Shasteen of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Jason Shasteen of Stafford, Virginia. The family would like to thank all of his doctors for their dedication and efforts and any close friends that may have helped him through rough times.
