Peter Max Haene

November 27, 1930 – October 31, 2021

Peter was born in Bern, Switzerland to Max Haene and Trudy Lorenz-Haene. He shared many childhood stories and memories with us about growing up and coming of age in Switzerland. He enjoyed the constant flow of students, teachers, artists, and others that would have short stays in his parent's home.

Peter initially apprenticed as an electrician, later switching to hospitality. One of his first major positions was on a freight ship that also had several passenger cabins. He was responsible for the care and comfort of the passengers and for supplies procurement for passengers and crew. It was during these years that he found his passion for the open seas. A great many of his vacations in later years would be aboard canoe, raft, boat, and ship. Peter happily voyaged abroad with family and friends on many different cruise ships.

Peter met his future wife, Marcelle Brechet, in Bern. In their mid-twenties they would move to, and marry in, Canada. They lived a brief time in Canada awaiting immigration approvals before moving to the USA, where they eventually became Naturalized Citizens.

An interesting and rewarding career path in Food & Beverage/Hospitality ensued after moving to the United States. Among others, these included Chicken Delight, United Air Lines, Hospital Food Services, Marriott In-Flight Food Services and Ogden In-Flight Food Services. At the age of Fifty, Peter stepped into self-employment. From what started as a single retail bakery in 1981, and with his family joining forces, there arose PMMC Associates, Inc., a company that grew through four different retail stores, plus wholesale deliveries serving the Washington, D.C. area Hotels, Caterers, Museums and Cafeterias, such as in The World Bank and the CIA. Peter retired as President of PMMC Associates, Inc at the age of Seventy-five.

Peter passed away October 31, 2021, holding the hand of his great love, Marcelle. Peter is survived by his wife, Marcelle; his sister, Luca; his sons Michael and Clifford; his daughter-in-law Lisa; his grandchildren Isabella, Matthew, Daniella, Nicholas, and Sarah; and his great-grandchildren Mihilo and Mila.

Peter had a rich, full life and lived every day without regrets. We will miss him. Love is forever.

For those who love God, all things work together for good. (Romans 8:28)
