Randall Bernard Jensen (Randy) of Leesburg, VA, passed away at Stone Springs Hospital in Dulles, VA, on February 13, 2016 at the age of 69. Randy was born November 9, 1946, in Racine, WI, the son of the late Ruth and Bernard Karls, and was later adopted by the late Elmer Jensen. He was raised in Pleasant Prairie, WI, and graduated from Bradford High School in 1964. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Kenosha campus, for two years and transferred to the Madison campus where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1969.
Randy was united in marriage to Constance E. Jensen, nee Campbell, on August 26, 1967, in Kenosha, WI.
His career began at Rohm and Haas Chemical Company in the Philadelphia area. Later he returned to Wisconsin to work at the Spice Plant for Oscar Mayer Co. He was a member of the ASTA spice organization and there met his future mentor, Bailey Thomas, from McCormick and Co. In 1978, he moved to Phoenix, MD, with his young family and worked for McCormick for 24 years. Randy did extensive travelling both in the US and many countries for his job. He retired in 2002.
In retirement he and his wife enjoyed motor homing as well as moving to various states including Florida, Kansas and Virginia. Another area they really enjoyed was Albuquerque, NM. They made several trips out there with their motor home. Since moving to Virginia, Randy and Conney have enjoyed attending many grandsons' baseball and soccer games.
Randy's main hobbies were to rehab houses, completely restore corvettes, be a part-time farmer growing crops while employed full time. He worked on all facets of car repairs and maintenance. He loved to boat on the Chesapeake Bay and spent many weekends on the water. Also enjoyed were hunting, long bicycle trips, hiking, motorcycle trips, being an adult leader on Boy Scout trips, weekend camping and reading. He spent many hours reading and researching financial trends and markets, and had a good understanding of the world economy.
Randy is survived by his spouse, Conney, sons Eric (Patty) Jensen, and Kirk (Begoña Rodriguez) Jensen. His grandsons are Iñigo, Nicolas, and Daniel Jensen. He is also survived by 3 brothers (Kevin, Mark and Lance Jensen) and 2 sisters (Marla Jensen and Linda Tennessen).
A memorial service will be held February 21, 2016, at 2 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA 20176.
