Raymon M. Bender, age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at INOVA Fairfax in Fairfax, VA. He was born on July 24, 1956 in Camp Lejeune, NC at the U.S. Naval Hospital to Charles and Burnette (Derr) Bender.
He was a 1974 graduate of Onslow Academy. He served 6 years with the U.S. Navy. He married his high school sweetheart, Terri (Friel) Bender, in 1978. They resided in Woodbridge, VA since 1983. Ray was employed with Axiologics Solutions, where he always looked forward to Tea & toast Thursdays, Hawaiian Shirt Fridays, and wearing wacky socks every day. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and his coworkers. Raymon never met a stranger and would strike a conversation with anyone and everyone (usually starting with "What's up, cool").
He is survived by his wife, Terri, son, Zack Bender, daughter, Emily Bender, and grandchildren, Julian, Ava, and Cameron Bender, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Bender, and predeceased by his sister, Constance Wilczypolski.
Raymon will be forever missed.
Family, friends, and others whose lives have been touched by Ray, are invited to ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH, 12807 VALLEYWOOD DRIVE, LAKE RIDGE, VA 22192, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, for a viewing from 10:30 am to 11:00 am followed by a Mass. Interment will follow at QUANTICO NATIONAL CEMETERY, 18424 JOPLIN ROAD, TRIANGLE, VA 22172 at 1:00pm. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life, which will be held at HECTOR'S OF LAKE RIDGE, 2233 TACKETTS MILL DRIVE, LAKE RIDGE, VA 22192 @3:30PM.
In honor of Ray, we ask that you dress casual and comfortable (i.e.: Hawaiian/tropical shirt, which was Ray's favorite attire).
In lieu of flowers, we ask to please make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://stjude.org/
