Rebecca “Becky” Kirkman Delaney went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend whose warmth and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.

Becky loved her family above all else. She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother who poured herself into those she loved. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with them. Her husband, Charles Delaney, was her steadfast partner, and her daughters were among her proudest blessings.

She dedicated herself to teaching and influenced countless students with patience and compassion. Becky lovingly cared for family members whenever they were in need and had a special place in her heart for animals, never turning away a creature that needed care. She always placed others before herself. She had a radiant smile that could light up a room and was a steady source of strength and guidance to so many.

Becky will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. While her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace. A devoted UNC Tar Heels fan, she rarely missed cheering them on, especially during basketball season.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Delaney; her daughters, Susan Sparks (Paul) and Tracy Mathews; her grandchildren, Kyleigh Ewing, Cayden Sparks, Chloe Sparks, and Abbie Kate Sparks; her cousins, Fred Holt (Marsha), Joe Holt, and Jeff Holt (son of Joe Holt); as well as extended family members and many friends.
