Regina Marie (DeLany) Grubbs, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2020, in Winchester, Virginia, after a lengthy illness.
Regina was born in Trenton, New Jersey on September 15, 1941, daughter of Robert and Sally Johnson DeLany, who preceded her in death. She grew up in the Washington, DC, suburbs, attending Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, and as a young woman worked at the National Zoo and as a secretary with the Federal Government before taking time to raise her family.
Regina was a graduate of Shepherd University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. She enjoyed sharing her passion for art with her students while working as a substitute art teacher in Frederick County Public Schools and teaching art in the Frederick County Parks and Recreation Department. As a long-time resident of Winchester, VA she enjoyed helping her customers while working at Belk.
Regina is survived by her four children; Glenn (Lindy) Grubbs, Kenneth (Tina) Grubbs, Christine Grubbs, and Sharon Collier, four grandchildren Elijah (Natalie) Grubbs, Corey Copenhaver, Alexis Copenhaver, and Haley Collier, two great-grandchildren, and her sister, Betty Logan.
Burial will be at historic Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, MD on November 16, 2020. A celebration of life is being planned for spring 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blue Ridge Hospice ( https://brhospice.org/donate/ ) in her memory.
