Passed away peacefully on March 16, 2019 in Lovettsville, VA due to Parkinson's Disease.

He was born on October 16, 1940 in Ilagan, Isabela, Philippines to Josefa S. Sinjian and Manuel V. Torrijos.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vicenta T. Bulan, Teresita Torrijos, Milagros T. Guillermo and brothers Jose Mari, Manuel Jr. and Victor.  He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Salome L. Torrijos, in Woodbridge, VA; sons Rafael (Natalie) of Ashburn, VA; Renato Jr. (Angela) of Lovettsville, VA; Roberto (Tanya) of Powhatan, VA; grandchildren Ilana, Carmela, Isabelle, Leo, Vincent & Lily; and sisters Josefina T. Yturri and Pilar T. Afuang of Manila, Philippines.

He worked all his life in banking, first at COMTRUST (now Bank of the Philippine Islands) in Manila, Philippines until he emigrated to the United States in 1978.  After retiring from the Navy Federal Credit Union in June 2007, he enjoyed traveling with his wife.  He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality North American Volunteers and served annually for several years at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in Lourdes, France.  He was also an active parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Triangle, VA for 26 years, where he was a member of the Respect Life Committee.

Two of his many passions were fishing and gardening. He loved fishing with his sons and grandchildren and planting vegetables in the summer.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 37730 St. Francis Ct., Purcellville, VA 20132 on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11 am; a mass to celebrate his life will be at noon.  Interment will be at Cool Spring Natural Cemetery, 901 Cool Spring Lane, Berryville, VA 22611.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (parkinsonfoundation.org) in his memory.
