Obituary

The memories of Richard "Dick" Callahan will continue to live on in all who were blessed to have known him. Mr. Callahan passed away on September 30, 2010. He was 82 years old.

Richard Callahan was born to parents Patrick and Mary (Cantillon) Callahan on April 29, 1928 in Woodside, New York. He attended Queens College in Queens, New York. Dick was employed by Davidson Trucking and later established Washington Cartage. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Dolores "Dee" previously lived in Annapolis, MD.

Left to share the memories are his daughter Debbie Ray (husband Roger), grandchildren Caitlin and Chris Ray and loving companion Dena Zeller. He was predeceased by parents Patrick and Mary, siblings John, Tom, Peggy and Helen Callahan, wife Dolores Callahan daughter Linda Callahan and son Ricky.

Dick enjoyed his membership with the Knights of Columbus and Elks. While living in Heritage Harbour, he was a member of the Harbour Square dancers and also enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, Virginia from 5 and 7 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held in the Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials & Tributes Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 or Capital Hospice, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042.
