Dr. Richard J. Kowalski, MD, 81, of Middletown Maryland passed away on Saturday, May 5 ^th at his daughter and son-in-law's home. He was the son of the late Joseph and Stella Kowalski of Ithaca, NY. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen (Midge) Mahoney-Kowalski for 54 years, his son Dr. Richard Joseph and his wife Julie, daughter Eileen (Cindy) Anderson and her husband Gary Anderson of Middletown , Maryland; daughter Linda and her husband Kevin O'Neal in Richmond Vermont; son David and his wife Carol in Corning , NY; daughter Michelle and her husband Matt Weegar in Syracuse NY; and son Robert and his wife Amy Kowalski in University Place, Washington; Ten grandchildren: Joe Kowalski and Kristin Tsigounis, Lauren and Danielle Anderson, Michael, Kaitlyn, Joe and Scott, Connor Weegar, Yani Tsigounis, and Kaden and Ethan O'Neal. Richard graduated from Ithaca High School in 1954. Navy 1955-1957. Saint Bonaventure College graduated 1964. Medical School/Georgetown graduated 1964. Internship Highland Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital- Rochester, NY 1965. Residency Georgetown Psychiatric Department 1965-1968. Psychiatric Clinic, Family Counseling Center,1983-1988 Manassas Virginia; Group Health Practice full time 1988-1994, Elmira Psychiatric Institute Hospital 1995-1997; full time private practice part time social services and family counseling Elmira, NY 1997-2004. Retired in 2004 to Pennsylvania. Dr. Kowalski attended Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle and was a member of the church choir and Heritage club.

In 2014 he moved to Middletown, Maryland.  Attended Holy Family Catholic Community Church. Mass will be held on Monday, May 14 ^th ,2018 at 10:00am with Monseigneur Robert J. Jaskot, 7321 Burkittville Road, Middletown, Maryland 21769. Burial at: Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia 20176.
