Obituary
Richard William McCarthy , 67, died peacefully in his sleep October 2nd at home in Great Falls, VA. He was born in Clonmel, Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland, before coming to the U.S. in the late 80's. He was retired from WMATA and Fairfax County Public Schools.
He was a fan of Big Band Jazz and played trombone in the Montgomery College Big Band. He was also an avid golfer, loved to travel, and enjoyed a chat by the fire with friends.
Richard is survived by his loving partner, Patricia Orend. His sister Helen Hennessey and her husband Arthur live in the family home in Clonmel. He is survived by many, many friends who he cherished in the U.S., Canada, and Ireland.
He will be buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ireland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairfax County Animal Trust Fund, 4500 W Ox Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030.
