Obituary

Richard L. Moreno of Sterling, Virginia, passed away at Loudoun Hospital on November 5, 2017.  He was surrounded by his family:  Sharon, his wife of 45 years, daughter Joanna, and sons Andrew and William.

Richard was an accomplished musician, having played trumpet since fifth grade.  He taught trumpet to Loudoun County band students, was the leader of a brass quintet and participated in several local performing groups, including the Loudoun Jazz Ensemble and the Loudoun Symphonic Winds.  In addition, Richard was proud to have played and marched with the Washington Redskins Marching Band.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Lorenza and Phillip Moreno.  He leaves behind his wife and three children, as well as a daughter-in-law and one grandson.  He also leaves three brothers, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Denver, Colorado.

A time of visitation is planned for Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176.  Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Dranesville Road, Herndon, Virginia 20170.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2017 in Quantico National Cemetery.
