RICHARD J. SNOOKS III (aka Dick)

Richard Snooks passed February 17, 2020, at Inova Hospital surrounded by family. He was born in Brockton, MA, on September 12, 1937. He is preceeded in death by his parents Richard J. Snooks, Jr., Emily Morris Mignault and a brother William H. Snooks. He leaves behind a wife, Evelyn M. Snooks of 61 years, two daughters, Lynn Snooks Wahl (Todd) and Lisa Renee Snooks, four grandchildren, Tyler Wahl, Kyle Wahl, Cody Cox and Carlee Cox, all of Leesburg, a sister, Jackie Solomon of Lexington Park, Maryland, two half sisters, Venus E. Mignult and Lee Ault, both of Florida, nieces and nephews. He retired from the Fairfax County Police Department where he served for 23 years. He was a member of the Olive Branch Lodge (#114) and the Lucketts Ruritan Club. He was a founder of the Lucketts Community Center and responsible for getting the bell back in the bell tower. He was known for the ribs he cooked at the Lucketts Fair every year, for over 40 years. He enjoyed going to the Senior Center, in Leesburg, playing cards and chatting, with all the special friends he met over the years and loved so much. He was very proud of his special friends he met over the years and loved so much. He was very proud of his special secret Pickles he made. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors, Shriners for Children and St. Jude's Hospital. There will never be another Legend as Dick. He will be remembered by many!

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd., NE, Leesburg, VA  20176 where a service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
