Robert Warren Colburn, PhD

Robert Warren "Bob" Colburn passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013. He was 85 years old.

Bob led a very colorful life traveling coast to coast and back again a number of times.
Born in Rochester, New York, he was the son of the late Charles Warren and Mabel (Benson) Colburn. After a stint in the Navy and at the end of WWII, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Soon after he moved to New Jersey. From here Bob went on to Stanford; earning two PhDs. Then it was back to the Rockefeller Institute in New York City and on to NIMH in Maryland. While traveling, he had a brief layover in Virginia before heading back to California to UCLA with his new wife Lisa Marie. In 2003 Bob returned to Virginia; where he called home.

Bob's memories are cherished by the loved ones he leaves behind; which include his children Charles A. Colburn (Prima), Janet C. O'Grady, David F. Colburn (Lisa); and grandchildren Christopher, Brendon (Lindsey), Robert, Kelly, Kaytlin and Jennifer. Bob was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel Colburn; wife Lisa and son Donald R. Colburn.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2013 starting at 11:00 a.m. in Good Hope Community Cemetery in Front Royal, VA. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at the Blue Ridge Community Room at Leisure World in Leesburg, Virginia.
