Robert Hall
November 14, 1939 – May 19, 2022
Robert "Bob" Edwin Hall was born in Junction City, Kansas. Bob attended and played basketball at Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, Kansas and Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. Bob met Nancy Bell Weber at Kansas State University and they married in Troy, Kansas on January 14, 1967. They spent their first years of marriage in California and Pennsylvania, before settling in Houston, proudly raising their family in the Lone Star State.
Bob worked in industrial pipe & tube sales always providing for his family, no matter the distance or obstacles. He brightened every room with his kindness; was unfailingly polite, going out of his way to make others feel at ease, and known for frequently bringing a dozen kolaches to the office, customer meetings and home.
Bob loved sports and history. His keen memory enabled him to bring to life critical plays or moments in time, educating others on an athlete's skill or the significance of someone's contribution. He was an avid reader, incredibly proud of the book collection that he and Nancy built throughout their life together. His faith was also very important – with each move a priority was to find a new church. They were members of Bear Creek United Methodist Church in Houston for over 35 years before moving to Virginia.
Bob loved his pets over the years, including Harley the Old English Sheep Dog, Herman the tabby cat who had many litters in Houston, and Gus, their cat in Leesburg. But nothing was more important than his wife, Nancy, his children Beth and Chris, his grandson James, and the extended Hall and Weber families. He loved his family with all his heart, practicing that the most valuable thing one can spend on children and family is time. In his retirement, nothing pleased him more than stumbling across a new nugget of information to piece together the family history. His genealogy research on the family is a gift for generations to come.
He was a proud Hall, Kansan, Texan, and American; his love of family and country visible to all. We know that he is in a better place and is watching over all of us. We imagine him playing basketball at the Fonde Recreation Center or swinging a golf club on the 6 th fairway at Hearthstone. We hope he is listening to Willie and Waylon, drinking the very coldest beers (always his ask), and eating Blue Bell ice cream.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Oakley Hall and Margaret Roselyn (McKinney) Hall, half-brother Charles Hall, and half-sister Phyllis (Hall) Arack. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Beth (Hall) Jafari, son Chris Hall, grandson James Hall, brother Jack Hall, and Nancy's brother John Weber.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 27, 2022 at 2pm at Leesburg United Methodist Church, located at 107 W. Market Street. Bob will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery in Leesburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bob's name be given to either Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers ( https://www.lvcaregivers.org/ ) who were incredibly helpful in assisting with Bob's transportation during cancer treatments or Lost Dog and Cat Animal Rescue ( https://www.lostdogrescue.org/donate-now/robert-hall/ ), which rescued three of his granddogs.
