Family man and local Virginia dentist Robert "Bob" Hulbert grew his wings on June 12th, 2014. Bob was born in sunny San Diego California on November 6, 1967 to parents Bruce Hulbert and Margret Hulbert. Countless memories were made with his older sister Nancy Hulbert, and close group of friends. A dynamic childhood filled with memories of sports, music, and travel helped shape this California native to the man we knew and loved. After moving to the Northern Virginia area, Bob graduated Oakton High school in Vienna, Virginia 1985.
Shortly after Bob's graduation at Oakton High school, he made the decision to follow in the footsteps of his father Bruce Hulbert and join the military. Bob entered the Navy in July of 1985. After periods of both active duty and inactive duty, Bob was sent to Guam in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. An honorable discharge was given to Bob in March of 1993, equaling up to about 8 years of service. Bob's ambitious nature kept him moving quickly through his early 20s; in a span of about 5 years Bob had not only been enlisted in the United States Navy, but had also worked as an electrician, sold cars, and opened his own Deli "Why Not Bobs".
Bob met his soul mate Christine Morabito in the summer of 1989. Although Christine played hard to get, Bob relentlessly fought for her affection and won her heart, they were married June 13, 1992. In 1993 Bob's attempts of sabotaging his new wife's birth control pills paid off resulting in the pregnancy of his first child. Brittany Hulbert was born September 29th, 1993. The realization of fatherhood and it's dedication caused Bob to sell his deli and follow his dream of becoming a dentist. After receiving his BS Degree in Biology at the American University, Bob furthered his education at the University Of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore. With the help of his "big brother" Robert Morabito Bob coasted through dental school. On July 16th 1997, Bob and Christine gained a 4th member to their clan, Bradley Hulbert.
Bob was able to juggle his family life and his schooling and graduated from the University Of Maryland Dental School in 1999, and immediately after started a partnership with Dr. Paul Ellington. Bob's gentle touch and likable personality gave him a quick following, and before he knew it he had opened a second practice. On January 27th, 2004 Christine Hulbert gave birth to their third child Brandon Hulbert. Countless weekends at the beach and adventures kept the Hulbert family busy. Bob strived to keep his children as active and involved as he was when he was young.
In March of 2013 Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Despite his diagnosis, Bob kept his remarkably upbeat spirit through every obstacle that he faced. Bob was able to harness his positivity and spent the time that he had left on this earth with his family. Memories were made that would last a lifetime in both his wife and his children's lives. 15 months after Bob's diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, he passed away while holding the hands of his daughter Brittany Hulbert and his wife Christine Hulbert. Bob was an incredible man with a soul of gold, and the memories of his selfless acts live strongly in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be a part of his life.
