Obituary

Robert (Bob) Alan Knuff, age 51, died peacefully Sunday morning August 4th after a brave battle with a rare cancer, with his wife and friends at his side.

Bob was born in Johnstown, PA, the only son of the late Clarence Knuff and Gertrude Kleinosky. Bob lived in Johnstown until his early twenties, attending Bishop McCort Catholic High School and the University of Pittsburg at Johnstown. He then moved to the northern Virginia area settling in Springfield. Bob worked for First Virginia Bank, then later as an assistant accountant in Adams Morgan. He went on to work as an accountant for the exhibit design firm of Explus, Inc. where he met his future wife, the former Michele Dianne Miller in 1987, and an office romance ensued.

He later worked at Veridian and General Dynamics, both in Fairfax. In 2004, he moved to Orbital Sciences Corp. as an Accounts Payable Manager, where he remained until his death.

Bob and Michele married in 1992, first living in Ashburn Farms and later moving to Leesburg where their children Abby and Ben were born and raised.

Bob was an athletic, fun loving and extremely kind person. He loved his family and did everything to protect and provide for them. Bob had an incredible sense of humor and quick wit, and enjoyed making people laugh. His warm hugs and kind eyes will never be forgotten. He and Michele loved spending hours listening to music.

Bob played softball for many years for St. Ambrose, and for 10 years he played on the Men's Senior Baseball League in Leesburg, as a pitcher and first baseman. He was always on the baseball or football fields for his son's teams, either as head or assistant coach, as well as watching his daughter cheer and wife coach. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Notre Dame fan.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 20 years Michele, daughter Abby 15, and son Ben 14, all of Leesburg; his sisters Janet Czyrnik of Johnston, PA and Cathy Coates of Cornelius, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
