Obituary

Robert "Bob" McCloskey

January 17, 1942 - May 6, 2018

Bob passed away peacefully from complications associated with colon cancer on May 6, 2018. He is survived by his ex-wife and friend Daphne "Taffy" McCloskey, sons Paul (Kristi) McCloskey, Brian McCloskey, Michael (Karen) McCloskey, Daniel (Lauren) McCloskey, and 7 grandchildren Helena, Alex, Samantha, Ian, Carolyn, Will and Luke. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ann McCloskey and his two nieces Jennifer and Meghan. His brother Stephen McCloskey preceded him in death.

Born in Washington, DC is 1942 to the late Victor and Lucille "Rusty" McCloskey, he attended Annandale High School, afterwards he served a brief stint in the Naval Reserve and became a realtor. For the next 53 years he sold real estate from Northern to Tidewater Virginia and all places in between.

Having lived the first half of his life in Northern Virginia, much of the second half in Virginia Beach, he spent the last 10 years in Purcellville, VA to be closer to his sons and grand children. He loved spending as much time as he could with them from coaching (ULYFL) to fishing to home repairs and projects. He took great pride in passing down life lessons and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His roots in Purcellville were deep. He was fond of the town and the people. He volunteered at the Tree of Life and worked for the Carver center serving the needs of our senior community.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society.

The family will hold a memorial service and reception on Saturday, June 2nd from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Carver Center, 200 E Willie Palmer Way, Purcellville, VA 20132.
