Roger Payne Heppes, Sr. of Dowagiac, Michigan passed away peacefully in his sleep October 6, 2018, at Manassas Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Manassas, Va. He served as a Technician Fifth Grade 160th Signal Company in the 20th Armored Division during World War II. Roger had a fulfilling career in the Federal Government and upon retirement became involved in local historical programs. Roger is survived by his wife Rachel, sons Roger "Chip" Heppes, Jr. (Regina) and Jerry (Mara); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by step-children Rebecca Kummel (Ed) and Thomas Houchins, Jr. (Susan).

Roger will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Services are provided by Colonial Funeral Home.
