Roger C. Smith
November 4, 1935 to September 24, 2016

Charles Roger Cameron Smith, "Roger," the only son of Walter Smith and Thelma Mitchell Smith, was born in Pembroke Parish, Bermuda, November 4, 1935. He passed away peacefully at his home in Leesburg, on September 24, 2016.

His talents as a professional photographer for the Bermuda Board of Tourism, photographing such notables as the Queen of England and Prince Phillip, and covering the famous Newport to Bermuda Races, were much in demand for over 20 years. After moving to the U.S. in the early 1970's Roger worked as an engineer at Proto Circuits in Fredericksburg, VA until 1988. In retirement, his expertise and passion for model shipbuilding, love of gardening and reading, and ability to fix just about anything, delighted family and friends.

Roger was united in marriage to Doris J. Crain on March 24, 1973 in Vienna, Virginia. In addition to his loving wife Doris, Roger is survived by his daughter Lori Smith of Cornwall, England, his step-son Joseph Crain and his wife, Claire Crain; his step-daughter Lynne Lanier, and her husband Josh Lanier, as well as eight step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great grandchildren.

Roger's generosity and wonderful stories will be greatly missed by his many friends and neighbors on Dodd Drive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8 at 1:00pm at the First Christian Church, Falls Church, Virginia. Inurnment will be at Leesburg's Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home, Leesburg, VA.
