Obituary

Ronald D. Phillips, 76, peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on 18 July, 2015. He was born on November 19, 1938 to Loren C. Phillips (deceased) and Mellie Justice Phillips (deceased) in Lookout, Kentucky. Born and raised in Freeburn, Kentucky along with brothers James (deceased) (Evelyn), Robert (Flora), Rodger (Phyllis), Richard (Maggie), and sisters Jackie (deceased) (Morris), Glenna Joan and Sondra (deceased) (Dean). While growing up with lifelong friends Dave Thornhill, Jim Hatfield, and Benny Campanella, he enjoyed many fun pastimes such as swimming, fishing, hiking, hunting, and sports. He has spent 30 years as a member of the Community Church and served as a deacon for many years. He loved his church family and was dedicated to serving the Lord. He was a retired Postal employee and has enjoyed many leisure hours at his mountain retreat in the Shenandoah Valley.

Ronald is survived by his wife Donna of Sterling, Virginia; daughter Catherine Burton (Joseph), of Gloucester, Virginia, daughter Pamela Lees (Erik) of Rippon, WV and Daughter Paula Gallagher (John) of Haymarket, Virginia.

In addition to his children he is survived by his grandsons Schuyler Burton (Courtney), Dylan Burton (Maddie), Zachary Lees, Finn Lees, Matthew Gallagher, Joseph Lees and granddaughters Fayth Biddulph (Fred), April Lees, Victoria Lees, Bethany Burton and Hannah Gallagher. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Christina and Derek Biddulph.

Our family would like to extend a special "Thank you " to the staff at INOVA Intensive Care Unit at Lansdowne for their tireless dedication and support in the care of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2015 between 10:00 am and 11:00 am at the Community Church, 19790 Ashburn Rd, Ashburn, VA 20147 where services will immediately follow starting at 11:00 am. Private interment will be held at a later date.
