IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosario Espinosa
Brooks
December 23, 1924 – October 24, 2022
With great sadness we announce that Rosario "Rose" Espinosa Brooks, aged 97, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022 at Harmony at Falls Run in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In her final hours she was surrounded by her loving family.
Rose, the youngest of four daughters, was born on December 23, 1924 in Lima, Peru to Miguel Espinosa and Carmen Espinosa de Arevalo. She attended business school in Lima where she learned her perfect English, and was trained as a bilingual secretary. After her graduation, she worked in Lima for several international companies including Coca-Cola until her marriage.
Rose met her husband Marcus Wesley Brooks through mutual friends in Peru. After a long-distance courtship they married on November 6, 1957. She then left her beloved Peru to start a new life with her husband in the United States. During their 56 years of marriage they lived in Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey and Virginia.
Rose and Mark both loved to travel and even lived in Saudi Arabia for a time while Mark was on assignment there. They made frequent trips to Peru to visit Rose's close family, instilling in their children a strong sense of pride in their heritage.
Rose loved cooking her native Peruvian cuisine and enjoyed listening to classical piano music. She also had an amazing "green thumb" and tended many plants in her garden and house. She was a devout Roman Catholic and adored by all her many friends and family.
She leaves behind her son Marcus Michael Brooks (Janet), her daughter Rosario Brooks Streeter (Mark), grandchildren Matthew, Brittany, Elena, Michael and Daniel, two great-grandchildren Jackson and Isabella as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
