Rose Lorraine O'Leary was welcomed into Heaven on October 15, 2021.

Christened Rose Lorraine Sheppard by her parents William B. Sheppard and Rose Marie Lakeman, she always preferred to be called Lorraine. She also went by Mom, Skin, and Grannie to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lorraine lived in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Ohio. A priceless gem of a woman, she was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, and for most of her life, Grannie.

Lorraine married Jerome O'Leary on May 11, 1946, at St. William's Catholic Church in Dorchester, Massachustts. Their legacy lives on with Karen (Bill) Oliver, Stephen O'Leary (d.), Alan O'Leary (d.), Susan (John) McElravy, Martin (James) O'Leary, eight grandchildren (Danny, Amy, Brian, Scott, Mary, Kate, Tricia, Justin) and eight great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, sister, husband, and two sons.

She was the strongest and most loving person we ever knew, an outstanding mother and Grannie, Lorraine treasured being with her family.  She was friendly and curious, and would travel as often as she could.  In her down time, she enjoyed a good word search, watching black and white movies, soap operas and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune.

A memorial will be held on April 16, 2022, from 10am to 12pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Virginia. Burial will follow in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider contributing to the American Heart Association.
