Obituary

Rosemary Pigue (89) passed into the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2024, in Leesburg, Virginia.

Rosemary was born in Ohio to loving parents, Harry and Ethel Shaw. Living through the Great Depression, often struggling themselves, they believed in generosity to the poor, respect for God, and pride in their country.

Rosemary married high school sweetheart Jean Keck (decd) in 1951 and they had three daughters:  Kimala Jean Keck (Ed) Gauthier, Karen Rose (Luis, decd) Vila, and Kelene Mary (Rev. John) Kuvakas. Rosemary and Jean lived in France during the first years of their marriage while he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Together on weekends they toured the surrounding countries. Rosemary often spoke of her time abroad with great affection.

In 1968 Rosemary married Leslie Davis (decd), and the (summertime) family grew to include Pete (Diane), Steve (Kristi), and Paul Davis. Two posts later, one to Montauk, NY, the other to Denver, Colorado, Davis retired from the USAF and the immediate family moved to Davis' home state, West Virginia, where they lived three years before finally relocating in 1975 to Florida. During the 70s Rosemary and her girls attended First Alliance Church in Orlando where they heard the gospel and came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Later in life (1990), Rosemary married Pastor Joel Pigue (decd). Together they attended Orlando International Worship Center, ministering in Street Outreach until Joel's passing in 1995.

Rosemary's life was marked with humility, sincerity, and a deep love for God. She attended and served at Orlando International Worship Center for over 30 years. She often spoke of leading the seniors, taking them on outings, and making homemade ice cream with them. She gained many dear friends within the walls of her church.

Rosemary's occupations in life ranged from working early on for a newspaper to later serving as an award-winning customer service specialist in jewelry at HSN. By far though, her favorite occupation was being a Physical Therapy Aide at Princeton Hospital where she won Employee of the Month in August 1992. One of Rosemary's dear friends from the staff recently said Rosemary was the backbone of the Therapy Department, taking time to listen to the patients and putting others' needs first. Rosemary retired from this profession to care for her failing husband, Joel.

Rosemary traveled often with her sister and her friends and continued to reside in Orlando, Florida until early 2023 when she was moved to Virginia to live with her daughter (Kelene), who cared for her during her final battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Rosemary's legacy of love, laughter, and faith lives on not only in her three girls, but also in her 9 grandchildren, Kate and Kristiana (Keck), Emily, Olivia, Joshua, Luke, and James (Vila), Ruth Eaton (Kuvakas), and Jason (Kuvakas). She was also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alistair (Eaton), Jacob (Vila), and Layla (Vila).

Rosemary is survived by her loving sister Dolores McCoy and her wonderful Florida nephews and niece, all of whom faithfully served Rosemary many times and in many ways during her life, bringing laughter and love. Even though the extended family ties through marriages were spread in many directions, all who knew her loved her.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 11 at Orlando Worship Center (11AM), to be followed immediately by a potluck. An interment at Glen Haven Cemetery will take place at 2PM that same day.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosemary's name to either her Florida or Virginia church:
