Obituary

A longtime resident of Loudoun County, Virginia, Rosie Sutphin Tincher passed away on May 25, 2013. Rosie, who was 100 years old at the time of her passing, has lived in the area since she was 6 years old.

Rosie was the proud daughter of Joshua M. and Cora L. (Wright) Sutphin. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 7, 1913. She and her husband, Garland V. Tincher, Sr. (who preceded her) were together blessed with four children. Rosie worked as a baker in the public school system. She was an avid reader and loved playing bingo.

Rosie will be missed by the many friends and family who are left to cherish her memories, which include her children Brenda Call (Larry), Garland "Butch" Tincher, Jr. (Barbara); step-daughter Sally T. Myers (Robert "Bob"); her sister Ann Shomaker; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Rosie was predeceased by her step-son John T. Tincher; her brothers Marvin Sutphin, Lincoln Sutphin, James Sutphin, Datey Sutphin, Lonnie Sutphin and Wendell Sutphin; and sister Roxie Johnston.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home,201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176, where the funeral will begin at 1:00 pm. Mrs. Tincher will be buried at Union Cemetery.
