Ruth Grasse Innocenti, age 96, a native of Washington, DC., passed away peacefully at Morningside House in Leesburg, VA on October 26, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Innocenti, her husband of 65 years. Ruth was known to all as a very special and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and regular attendee at St. Anthony Church in northeast D.C. Ruth was one of ten children. During the Depression, Ruth quit school in order to help support her family. In November 1941, Ruth and Frank were married. In the following years, Ruth devoted her time to raising her three children. Once her children were grown, Ruth worked for many years in the registrar's office at Catholic University. Ruth's home was always filled with the smells of delicious meals she cooked and shared with her family and friends. Ruth and Frank enjoyed traveling together to many countries, especially Italy to visit family and friends. Even at the end of her life, Ruth maintained her lively sense of humor, her talent for crocheting, and a passion for reading.
Ruth is suvived by her son John Innocenti and daughter-in-law Terry, daughters Frances Innocenti Wilson, Anne Christine Innocenti Andary and son-in-law John. Grandma Ruth will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren. She also adored by her four great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at The Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg. A Mass of Christian Burial wlll be offered at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg at 10:30 am Saturday, October 30, 2010. Burial will take place at 11:00 am Monday, November 1, 2010 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Rockville, Md.
