Ruth Sims was born October 17, 1936, in Leesburg, VA to the late Robert and Mary Simms.

Ruth received her diploma from Douglas High School where she also was the captain of the women's basketball team. She then went on to continue her studies at Morgan State University. Following her education, she became a nursing assistant at Loudoun Memorial Hospital and later switched her career path; she became a special needs teacher's assistant for Loudoun County Public Schools.

Ruth had a lot of hobbies and interests. She enjoyed bowling, playing the lottery, and watching college basketball on tv. Ruth had a relaxing side, she loved to knit, play cards, and raise the roof for her former Washington Redskins now known as the Washington Football Team. She recently became an Old Dominion University fan as she will be watching her grandson Tariq Sims play for the monarchs from above.

Ruth loved spending time with Krissy Sims (her sidekick), she could never go around town without her at her side. She also loved to talk on the phone with her longtime favorite cousin, Yvonne Ferrell. She just recently became a great grandmother to Kyran Lee Sims, the newest addition to her family.

After retiring from working for Loudoun County Public Schools she became the best grandmother she could ever be. We love you and we'll miss you. Rest In Heaven.

Ruth is preceded in death by her three children Paul Sims and Jacqueline Sims and Stephanie Cue, and leaves behind her daughters: Beverly Scott, Kristen Sims, and Janet Sims, grandchildren: Tyrel Ashton, Anthony Neal, Eric Neal, Tikisha Cue, Tiffany Cue, Jahmal Cue, Jasmine Cue, Jacelyn Scott, Tariq Sims, Tevion Cosentine and her great-grandchildren: Kiara Dowdy, Tamia Cue, and Kyran Sims and her great-great-grandchild, Jamir Washington. As well as a host of relatives and friends.
