Died Oct. 28, 2018, in northern Virginia after a brief illness (lived in Leesburg, Va., died at Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Va.)
Born Dec. 23, 1936, in Harrisburg, Pa., first child of Helen Dimmick (nee Wilson) and William H. Dimmick.
Was graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1953 and attended Gettysburg College for two years; she studied English with goal of becoming a journalist.
Married David B. Satterthwaite in 1956, lived about one year near Toledo as he trained with Owens Corning Fiberglass, then moved to southern New Jersey before rr She was widowed in April 2017
Preceded in death by her husband David B. Satterthwaite, parents Helen and William Dimmick, brother Fredrick Dimmick, and daughter Alice Satterthwaite.
Survived by daughters Mary Satterthwaite of Düsseldorf, Germany, and Jean S. Withnell of Leesburg, Va., grandchildren Abigail W. Davis, Esther W. Frankenfield, Isaac C. Withnell, Samuel O. Withnell, and Uriah J. Withnell, and two great grandchildren, all of northern Virginia.

Founding member of emergency medical services in Peachtree City, Ga., Fire Department
Life-long musician, teaching students in piano in both New Jersey and Georgia ending in mid-1970s. Played piano and organ as the assistant at First Presbyterian churches of Haddon Heights NJ., and Peachtree City, Ga. Was the initial pianist at Christ our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City and assisted afterward.
Life-long Lutheran, except for early married years. Baptized in March 1937, Memorial Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, Pa.
Lifelong birder and naturalist contributing to Audubon Christmas bird counts in Georgia and the Cornell University Feeder watch count tallying birds in their winter distribution. Wrote often of environmental issues in her newspaper column.
Member of Peachtree City city council in 1970s, an elected position, resigning to care for daughter in 1977. Member of appointed commissions in Fayette County and Peachtree City, Ga. A community advocate, she help organize the first July 4 parade and fireworks in Peachtree City, around 1972 or 73.
Lived in Peachtree City, Ga., 1971 to 2017. Moved to Leesburg, Va., in 2017 to be near daughter, JeanVisits: 0
