Loving mother, grandmother and friend, Sally Anne Adkins of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on July 6, 2010 at the age of 71. Sally was born in Willard, Ohio, on August 26, 1939, to Walter Clyde and Rose Marie (Simons) Carney. She was the mother of Jill (Adkins) Poloni and Jeff Adkins.

When memories of Sally come to mind, family and friends readily think of her as the loving, caring person she was. Sally devoted her whole life selflessly meeting the needs of others. She is described as being a wonderful mother and "the greatest grandmother anyone could ever ask for." Her caring nature led her to Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio, where she found employment not only as a bookkeeper, but a valued employee who often went beyond the call of duty in the service of others at the hospital. Many times she would relate stories to family of coming to help at the hospital during times of duress, such as assisting others there during a dangerous tornado storm.

Sally was a person who never wished to be in the limelight. She enjoyed the quiet things in life....looking at mountain views, watching airplanes, admiring flowers and watching the hummingbirds. She enjoyed relaxing and watching "The Price is Right" on her television. She was not a person who was hard to please. Anyone wishing to take her out to eat knew just where to go - Bob Evans for sausage gravy and biscuits. She truly adored her cats Ace and Clara.

Sally's family will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her daughter Jill Poloni and her husband Andy, along with her grandson J. R. Adkins, with whom she lived; her son, Jeff Adkins, his wife Roxanna and their children, Autumn and Caleb Lewis; her granddaughter Laura and husband Juan Felix; her brother Norman Carney, as well as her dear friends Dorothy and Earl Seidel.
