Sammie Eugene Lind passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011. He left us peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Sammie was born in Tampa, Florida September 22, 1931. After his service in the US Navy, he wed Peggy Monahan. They moved to Sterling Park in 1964, where they raised their 3 children, Kathleen Gathmann of Potomac Falls, VA, John Lind of High Point, NC, and Diane Petrella of Leesburg, VA.

Sammie is survived by his wife, three children, as well as, daughter-in-law Lila Lind, and son-in-laws Kenneth Gathmann and Ron Petrella. He lives in the hearts of his 9 grandchildren Bethany, Christopher, Joel, Jennifer, Abigail, Kaitlin, James, Karly, and Jonathan. Sammie worked in the airline industry as a mechanic at Dulles Airport. Known to all as a caring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Sammie enjoyed leisure time with his wife Peggy, family travel, fishing, the Washington Redskins, and home projects.

Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg, VA 20176. The family will greet visitors from 2-3pm with a service at 3pm. Sammie will be intered at Arlington National Cemetery on April 27, 2012. The service will start at 11:00 a.m.
