Sandra “Sandy” Lee Walker, 87, passed away at her home in Leesburg VA on May 1, 2026. Sandy was born on May 31,1938, the daughter of Michael and Alice (Lintz) Simms. She grew up in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1956.
Sandy attended Providence Hospital Nursing School and was a labor and delivery nurse for more than 30 years. She married Bobby Walker and they built a life together for 54 years. While raising her family Sandy was very active in Christ Lutheran Church in Beaver Falls She sang in the choir, assisted with worship services, volunteered at the soup kitchen, and gave her time to many other church ministries. Sandy and Bobby enjoyed frequent trips to Myrtle beach, and it became one of their favorite vacation spots.
After she retired, Sandy and Bobby relocated to Sun City Arizona. It was here that Sandy made many friends at American Lutheran Church and in her neighborhood. Sandy loved her church family especially the card making group. She loved the weather and her community in Arizona very much. Later in life, Sandy left Arizona with her daughter to live in Virginia where she was closer to her family.
Sandy was an avid crafter and was always looking for items to make into something special. She loved being outside and met many friends on her daily walks with her dogs. Family was her main source of joy and she relished every minute with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She attended as many band performances, sporting events, and dance recitals as she could. Sandy was kind and always willing to lend a hand. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Bobby, her daughter Lori, and her son-in-law Jim. She is survived by her son Lance and Amy (Smith) Walker, daughter Jolene Madden; grandchildren Michael Walker, Justin Tesch, Rick and Kasi (Walker) Fera, Brian and Chelsea (Rhodes) Lumpkin, Dan and Erika (Madden) Ryan, Andrew and Alexis (Walker) Smith, and Destiny Nicoll. Great grandchildren include Jaden, Hailey, Chase, and Lincoln Tesch; Sydnee, Mason, and Payton Walker; Rhiley, Kennedy, and Dallas Lumpkin; Jack, William, Elle, and Charles Ryan. Sandy is also survived by her brother Robert and Esther Simms and sisters-in law Cheryl Walker, Joyce Walker, and Joseph and Sarah (Walker) Ramsey.
A celebration of life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester PA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue in Sandy’s memory.
